Grocery Program

United Against Poverty’s Member Share Grocery Program (MSGP), is an accessible, dignified, food assistance program where individuals and families can personally select food and household items suited toward their needs.   The grocery program is a significant part of the United Against Poverty Mission. Families and individuals who fall at or below 200% of the federal poverty level are eligible for the program and receive free membership. With membership, individuals and families can access the program an unlimited number of times and contribute a small handing fee for the products they need, allowing them to save two-thirds of their household food budget. This dignified approach empowers families to select items they need for their household and inspires them to take a hand UP not handout as they work toward economic self-sufficiency.

“I am a retired nurse. I worked in Vero Beach after I moved here in 2014. I fully retired at age 72, but I still found myself on a tight month-to-month budget. A neighbor began sharing food from UP because of the large quantities. I immediately became a regular member. I have found the staff friendly and helpful and the social interaction in the aisles a lot of fun. The handling fees not only help with my personal budget but provides me snacks that I’m able to share at my church each Sunday. I so appreciate UP and all you do for my new community!”
