This organization on the Treasure Coast is helping families deal with the loss of SNAP Benefits

United Against Poverty of Indian River County is stepping in to help families affected by the freeze of SNAP benefits due to the federal government shutdown. On Monday, the organization began distributing grocery vouchers through its Member Share Grocery Program, offering food at up to 70% off. Each voucher equals 30% of a family’s usual monthly SNAP benefits, easing the burden for those suddenly without support.

The initiative has already helped dozens of local residents, including children, seniors, and veterans. Vouchers are available for pickup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at United Against Poverty’s Vero Beach location at 1400 27th Street.
